Ann J. Herrboldt

Ann Gluenkin was born to Albert and Josie (VanNingen) Gluenkin on Dec. 8, 1938 at Davis, SD.  She was baptized at Bethel Reformed Church in Davis, SD. Her family moved to Sioux Falls when she was four years old. At the age of fourteen, she received her Lord and Savior as a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls.  She attended school in Sioux Falls from Kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated from Washington High School. She then attended Augustana College for one year and was employed by the Argus Leader Newspaper. On March 18, 1960 Ann married Kenneth Herrboldt at First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls.

After their wedding, she made the trek to the farm near Menno, SD.  Since Ann grew up in the city, it was a huge change of life style which she adapted to over the years. She had to milk cows, take care of 1000 chickens, help with the cattle, and had no running water in their house. To this union was born Peggy and Kelly. After a few years, Ann went to work at the Menno Public School for 28 years as the school secretary.

Ann was a woman of strong faith. She served many years as an Officer of the Women of the Church, Sunday School Teacher, and Bible School Teacher. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed refinishing lots of different pieces of furniture, taking care of her flower beds, garden and large lawn. Anytime someone would stop, there would always be freshly baked cookies, rolls, or a pie to share.  Ann also spent many hours supporting her grandchildren’s sporting and music events.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Peggy (David) Walloch; her son, Kelly (Kay) Herrboldt and grandchildren: Kelsey Walloch, Tori Herrboldt, and Trent Herrboldt.

Ann was proceeded in death by her husband, Kenneth Herrboldt (March 31, 2018); parents, Albert and Josie Gluenkin; one sister, Alta (Donald) Hecht; one nephew, Lynn Hecht and stepmother, Dora VanderKolk.
