Anna Kuehn, age 98, of Yankton, and formerly of Crofton, NE passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 29, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee, NE with Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, with a Wake service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Anna was born September 5, 1916 in Utica, South Dakota to Albert and Lena (Heinisch) Borgheiinck. She was baptized in the Catholic faith at Sigel Church. Anna and her family moved to Menominee, Nebraska in 1921. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School and helped on the family farm.
Anna was united in marriage to Leonard Kuehn on May 7, 1935 in Menominee, Nebraska. She helped Leonard in the running of their bait shop located in South Yankton for many years, until they sold the bait shop and moved to Aten, Nebraska. She was an avid gardener and loved canning what she grew. She also loved to play cards and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren.
Her memory will be cherished by her children: Jerry (Donna) Kuehn of Yankton, SD, Norma (Dean) Sime of Caputa, SD, and Cheryl (Art) Bottolfson of Crofton, NE; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, 5 step great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Sally Tramp of Yankton, SD and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, parents, and brothers and sisters: Frank Borgheiinck, Lucy Merkel, Zita Amick, Martha Estes, Alfred Borgheiinck, and Ambrose Borgheiinck.
