Dutch and Sharon moved to Volin in 1965 and were very involved in the community. Dutch was on the Volin Town Board for 21 years and served on the Volin Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years. He was also a first responder for several years.
Dutch retired from the City of Yankton Street Department after 23 years of service. Following retirement Dutch and Sharon traveled to Mission TX for the next 18 winters. Where they were an integral part of the community and maintained wonderful friendships.
Dutch is survived by his faithful companion Toby, 3 children Deborah (Todd) Koch, Great Falls, MT, Pam Sciancalepore, Spokane Valley, WA, Brad (Diana) Steenhoven, Yankton SD. 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Donna (Cliff) Madson, Shirley (Mark) Garry and 2 brothers Butch (Lois) Steenhoven, and Rick Steenhoven and several nieces, nephew and cousins.

His loss is immeasurable, but so is the love he left behind.....In the famous last words of Dutch, “Yup, Yup, Yup. Love ya. Bye”
