She was born on August 26, 1931 to August and Emma (Tadejeski) Wollman at their family home south of Menno, SD. Arlene grew up attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Menno, SD, where she not only learned about Jesus, but grew up to love and serve Him. She loved music and was gifted with a small pump organ by her Dad, when he saw how she always pretended to play piano with chalk drawn keys on a chair. Arlene became the church organist when she was 13 years of age.
Arlene attended Menno public school until her sophomore year, when her family moved north of Lesterville, SD. She then attended Scotland Public School for one year until her father needed her help at home.
Arlene’s first job was at Klaudt Station in Menno, making 45 cents an hour. In 1951, Arlene met and married Richard Gall, after he returned from serving in the Marines during World War II. They farmed and raised their four children north of Lesterville, SD, retiring in Scotland, SD. They faithfully attended and served in the rural Lesterville Petersburg Church, and then in present day Scotland Community Church. Arlene’s faith and church family were an integral part of her life. After they quit milking cows, Arlene went to work at Walmart when it first opened in Yankton. She so enjoyed engaging with all the people for her 19 years of employment. Arlene resided at Majestic Bluffs in Yankton for the past 1 ½ years, where she was blessed with so many kind staff and friends.
Arlene is survived by her children Bonnie Hoyt and her husband, Curt of Hermosa, SD; Rodney Gall and his wife, Teresa of Yankton, SD; and son Randal Gall of Yankton, six grandchildren and their spouses, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, son Steven, sisters Lydia, Vera and Ella, and brothers Edwin, Helmuth and Eugene.
