BENDER BROOKLYN

Brooklyn Siobhan Bender, age 22 of Yankton, SD passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD, from injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident on December 24, 2018.

Brooklyn Siobhan Bender was born August 25, 1996 in Yankton, SD to Bradley and Rhonda (Mayer) Bender.  She graduated Yankton High School in 2014, where she was a member of the choir and band.  She loved playing volleyball and softball and was an avid writer.  She attended Mt. Marty College for three years pursuing a degree in English.  Brooklyn was loved by many through her acts of kindness, her beautiful voice, her sparkling eyes, witty humor and heart of gold.

Brooklyn is survived and remembered by her parents; her sister, Alicia (Michael) Thunker of Crofton, NE; her brother, Colton (Kendra Hunhoff) of Yankton, SD; three nephews:  Seeley, Sawyer and Shepherd Thunker, all of Crofton, NE; her closest childhood friends, Keeley Vogt, Cassie Luttrell, and Miranda Crisman, all of Yankton, SD, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves behind numerous friends whom she touched through her generosity and love. She loved so deeply and purely, now her love will touch so many more with her life-saving gifts of organ donation.

She was preceded in death by her grandparent, Ted and Carol Mayer and Adam and RoseMary Bender, her aunt, Constance Schenkel, and her cousin Kyle Bender.
