Calvin Dean Hespe, age 65 of Yankton passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from injuries as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton with Rev. Beverly Lanzendorf officiating. Burial will be at 3 PM at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Springview, NE. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Calvin was born June 8, 1949 in Ainsworth, NE to Gustave and Mabel (McIntosh) Hespe.
Calvin was a wonderful loving man who loved spending time with family and friends. He always made people laugh and smile. He love the outdoors, fishing and hanging out enjoying life. He loved driving the semi and stopping by to surprise family. Calvin and his weekly phone calls to so many will be missed. We all knew he had a great story to make us laugh. We will all be looking forward to seeing that ornery grin again.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hespe of Norfolk, NE; mother, Mabel Hespe of Burton, NE; sons, Eric Hespe of Grand Island, NE and Zach Hespe of Utica, SD; daughters, Dawn (James) Hutchison of Cape Coral, FL and Angela (Todd) Pearson of Alda, NE; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers: Larry (Dixie) Hespe of Springfield, NE, Dennis (Romona) Hespe of Spencer, NE, David (Cora) Hespe of Naper, NE, Roger (Robin) Hespe of Newcastle, WY and Daniel Hespe of Burton, NE; sisters: Donna (Robert) Basgall of Sylvan Grove, KS, Loretta Lasiter of Webster City, IA and Mavis (Richard) Schuman of Salina, KS and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Bobbi Schomer. The family request memorials be directed to Benefit Account of Cal Hespe at First Dakota Bank, 225 Cedar Street, Yankton, SD 57078.
