Carol Gubbels was born to Ernie and Lillian Hason-Dusek on October 12,1940 in Omaha, NE. Carol graduated from Omaha South High School in 1958. She met Vern Gubbels from Portsmouth, IA while bowling and they married on March 31, 1962. Carol and Vern have been retired in Yankton, SD for the past 25 years. At their river-front log home, Carol fished, organized large parties for family and friends, quilted, gardened and sewed. She loved her special time with family playing Christmas carols on the organ, while being accompanied by her son, Ernie on the bass guitar.
Carol’s life was dedicated to her family, including her three children and granddaughter. While growing up, Carol traveled with her parents on summer cross-country trips to her dad’s professional wrestling events in California, Texas and New York to name a few. Carol’s professional career included working for Northwestern Bell, Omaha Public Schools and in community theater. Over the many years as her children grew, Carol could be seen supporting her daughter Donna at flag corp shows, watching Eve cheerleading from the sidelines as well as helping her son Ernie with his work in entertainment. With the birth of her first grandchild Rilee, Carol enthusiastically supported and guided Rilee in all of her achievements and accomplishments from schoolwork to playing softball.
