HAUCK CLIFFORD

Clifford R. Hauck, age 86 of Utica, SD passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD.   Pallbearers are grandsons: Richard, Baron, Braden, Austin, Barak and Daniel Hauck and Kevin Chafee and great grandson Zane Hauck.

Clifford was born on the farm in rural Utica, SD to Edward J. and Mina Isabell (Iler) Hauck on February 2, 1933. He went to the Hillcrest Country School and graduated from Scotland High School in 1950. Clifford met his future wife, Dorothy Foos, at her sister’s home while visiting the west side of South Dakota. This was the beginning of a life of love and companionship which lasted 66 years. They married October 3, 1952 and lived all their married life in rural Utica. To this union, 3 sons, Gary, Gordon and Mike, were born. Clifford was a farmer all  his life. Even after retiring he enjoyed farming from the roadside and watching his sons, grandsons, and great grandsons in the field from his pickup window. Once a farmer, always a farmer! Clifford loved to socialize and meet with friends and family. Friends and family gathered many times at their home for cookouts and potlucks. Clifford loved spending time with the young kids of the family, especially the babies. He had a magic touch with the babies; in his hands he could settle a restless, crying baby in no time! He loved taking the grand and great grandkids trapping and fishing. Grandpa was also known to be a joker and master storyteller. Everyone knew you couldn't necessarily believe everything he told you. Clifford loved to collect tractors of all sizes and ages. He would visit many auctions looking for new treasures. One of those treasures was a full sized, real airplane. The family never knew what Grandpa would come up with next!

Clifford is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Dorothy of rural Utica, SD; sons: Gary (Lana), Gordon and Mike (Sheryl) Hauck, all of Utica, SD; grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin) Chafee of Casper, WY, Richard (Nancy) Hauck of Utica, SD, Austin Hauck of Mills, WY, Shawn Hauck of Utica, SD, Baron (Laura ) Hauck of Canton, SD, Braden (Emily) Hauck of Canton, SD, Barak Hauck of Utica, SD, Daniel, Anna and Laura Hauck, all of Utica, SD; great- grandchildren: Elayna and Dylan Chafee, Zane, Jack and Ryder Hauck, Maia and Tanner Hauck, Brody and Sawyer Hauck; brother, Floyd (Dorothy) Hauck of Utica, SD; brother-in-law, Maurice Ekeren of Yankton, SD; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mina Hauck; step-mother, Ellen Hauck; in- laws, David and Dorothy Foos; sister, JoEtta Ekeren; sister-in-law, Joyce Hauck; grandson, Brett Hauck and great-grandson, Colin Hauck.
