David C. Fiedler

BTC David C. ‘Fid’ Fiedler, RET, age 82, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD with Rev. Dani Jo Bierwagen officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the South Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD at 3:00 PM with full Military Honors and South Dakota Patriot Guard Riders as Honor Guard. David was born May 22nd of 1943 to Darlene and Carl Fiedler in Yankton, SD.

He joined the U.S Navy December 2nd of 1960 and was honorably discharged March 31st of 1982. After his service he returned home to Yankton and briefly worked for Morgan Manufacturing until May 1983 when he joined the Yankton Police Department where he worked until June 1993.

In his free time David enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, siblings Fred, Terry, Tom, Jim, Bob, Bonnie, and his infant sister Karen.

He is survived by Daughter Colleen, 3 Grandchildren, Celeste (Darien), Lundin and Aiden (Pearl) and his 6 Great Grandchildren Karter, Anna, Jude, Athena, David and Emmet, and siblings Martha, Carla and Steve.
