Dorothy D. Neth

Dorothy D. Neth, age 84, of Yankton, SD was welcomed to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 07, 2017 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD.  Funeral will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Salem Reformed Church, Menno, SD with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating.  Burial will be approximately 1:30 PM, Thursday afternoon at Rosehill Cemetery, Scotland, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD with a Scripture service at 7:00 PM.  Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.  On-line condolences may be sent at: www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com.

Dorothy was born November 19, 1932 at the family farm near Olivet, S.D. to John and Pauline (Tiede) Mogck. She was baptized and confirmed at the Salem UCC Church of Parkston, S.D.

Dorothy attended country school and graduated from Parkston High School. On February 11, 1951 Dorothy married the love of her life, Elmer Neth. To this union three sons were born, Steven, Michael, and Roger. The couple farmed near Scotland S.D. for over forty years until reaching retirement and enjoying town life in Scotland. Most recently she resided in Yankton, SD at the Avera Sacred Heart Assisted Living.

Dorothy was a vibrant spirited woman who always had an open door and conversation to be had. Her life was centered on church, family, and many life-long friends. She enjoyed assisting with Women's Fellowship, teaching Sunday school, and singing with the church choir.

She loved attending her grandchildren's school events and cheering on the Scotland Highlanders. Many years were spent camping and making the yearly journey with Elmer to Mesa, AZ as snowbirds. Dorothy truly enjoyed all the social activities that Mesa had to offer.  Many family members and friends enjoyed a competitive game of Pinochle with her. Dorothy's colorful personality will be missed by many.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Elmer of Yankton, SD; 3 children:  Late Steven (Sharon) Neth of Scotland, SD; Michael (Sandra) Neth of Yankton, SD and Roger (Robin) Neth of Scotland, SD; 8 grandchildren: Katina Rueb, Kevin Neth, Craig Neth, Rebecca Rippe, Justin Neth, Kristin Tigges, Cassandra Arens, and Kellyn Neth; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven; parents; brothers, Gilbert, John, and Roland and sister, Bernice Radel.
