Eugene Herrboldt

Eugene Herrboldt, age 94 of Menno and Spearfish, passed away early Monday morning, December 7, 2015 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Salem Reformed Church, Menno with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno with a 7:00 PM Prayer service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Eugene was born October 18, 1921 in Menno, SD to John and Emma (Neu) Herrboldt. He married Laurene Wright on July 6, 1942 in Hartington, NE. To this union five children were born. Eugene farmed in the Mitchell area until 1950 when they moved to a farm southeast of Menno, SD. He farmed until his retirement. Eugene and Laurene wintered in Mesa, AZ for 21 years where they enjoyed golf, playing cards and dancing. After Laurene's death in 2006, Eugene met Beverly Oldham. They resided in Spearfish, SD until his health declined in July 2015 and he moved to the Menno-Olivet Care Center. Eugene is survived by his sons: Merrith (Judy) of Bay City, MI, Lonnie (Connie) of Yankton, SD and David (Jennifer) of Menno, SD; daughter, Sherril Dubs of Menno, SD, daughter-in-law, Patsy Herrboldt of Scotland, SD; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred (Nona) of Alcester, SD and Alton (Myrna) of Menno, SD and sisters, Bertha Hines of Yankton, SD and Darlene (Lloyd) Wollman of Rapid City and special friend, Beverly Oldham. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Laurene; son, Tom; grandson, Miles Dubs; brother, Leon and his parents.
