Eugene A. Wollman age 90, of Menno, SD passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Menno, with Rev. David Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery, Menno, SD. Visitations will be 5:30 to 7:30 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno, SD. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eugene was born December 27, 1924 in rural Menno to August and Emma (Tadegeske) Wollman. He was baptized on February 15, 1925 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Hildebrant and confirmed on July 2, 1939 by Rev. R. R. Schultz. He attended Menno Public School and Menno High School. Eugene married Olive Gall on October 15, 1950 in rural Congregational Church of Lesterville, SD. To this union, three children were born: Dennis, Monica and Charles. They farmed north of Lesterville for forty years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church all his life, served his church as an elder for many years and was on the church council. Eugene also served on rural Odessa 41 Disctrict School Board. Eugene and Olive retired and moved to Menno in 1989. Eugene still loved to talk farming and enjoyed driving in the country to see the crops and in the spring the cows and calves in the pastures.
Eugene is survived by his children: Dennis (Geri) Wollman of Bonesteel, SD, Monica (Roger) Kock of Chancellor, SD and Charles (Nancy) Wollman of Yankton, SD; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Jeremy (Kelly) Wollman; Stephanie (Shaun) Ryan, Mackenzie, Zachary; Michael (Marisa) Wollman, Anasten, Sawyer; Carla (Alex) Cushman, Elsie Olivia; Carmen Kock; Sara Kock; Rachael (John) Anderson; Jillene Wollman. Also survived are his two sisters Ella Bertsch and Arlene Gall; brother-in-laws Marvin Gall, Emil (Betty) Gall; sister-in-laws Delores Nelson, Eileen (Joe) McIntyre; and Marjorie Novak, Geneva Gall, Betty Gall, Esther Gall, and Doris Gall.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Olive, two brothers, Alvin and Helmuth, two sisters Lydia Ulmer and Vera Sayler.
