Hulda Streyle, age 102, of Menno, passed away Wednesday September 24, 2025 at Oakview Terrace Care Center in Freeman. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Zion Reformed Church in Menno with Rev. Travis Grassmid officiating. Visitations will be Sunday, September 28 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Zion Reformed Church in Menno and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Kassel Reformed Cemetery in rural Menno. Online condolences may be sent at www.okfhc.com. Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel in Menno is assisting the family with arrangements. Pallbearers will be Kelly Streyle, Timothy Buchmann, Shaun Streyle, Christopher Buchmann, Jodi Myburgh, Kimberly Fischer, Austin Streyle, and Tyler Streyle. Honorary Pallbearers are all of her Great Grandchildren.
Hulda Katherina Barbara (Ziegler) Streyle was born on April 8, 1923, to August and Mathilda (Weisz) Ziegler, in Tripp, SD. Hulda passed away on September 24 at the age of 102.
She was baptized on May 10, 1923, by Rev. J. Koeppel and confirmed on May 16, 1937, by Rev. P Briest, both at the Dennewitz Lutheran Church, Tripp, SD. She attended grade school at Sharon #10.
Before marriage she worked as a maid for mothers with newborn babies. Hulda was united in marriage to Elner F. Streyle on April 25, 1948, by Rev. Schmidt at the Dennewitz Lutheran Church. After marriage she joined Zion Reformed Church, Menno, SD, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.
Hulda and Elner made their home on the farm in the Freeman/Menno area until retiring into Menno in 1988. During their years on the farm, she raised chickens and ducks, milked cows, and helped with fieldwork. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, embroidering, and quilting. She made quilts for all her children and grandchildren.
Hulda entered Freeman Regional Nursing Home (Oakview Terrace) in May, 2025, after breaking an ankle.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband of 77 years, Elner; her daughter Dianna (Robert) Buchmann; her sons Larry (Brenda) Streyle and David Streyle; and 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Hulda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Reinhold, Alfred, Emil, and Oscar, and sisters Lorraine Weisser and infant sister Regina.
