Irene M. (Souhrada) Dvoracek, age 97 of Yankton, SD passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD.

Irene Souhrada Dvoracek was born March 12, 1920 on a farm near Lesterville, SD to Joseph and Mary (Mudloff) Souhrada. She attended Cedar Grove Country School and graduated from Lesterville High School in 1937 and attended Stewart School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls. She worked in Tyndall as a beautician. On November 14, 1944, Irene married Harry Dvoracek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lesterville, SD. They farmed southwest of Tabor, where they also raised chickens. She loved gardening and flowers (especially African violets). They retired from farming in 1973 and moved to Yankton. She enjoyed pinochle, bingo and bowling. The Senior Citizens Center was her second home. Harry passed away on August 26, 2000. She entered the Yankton Care Center on July 27, 2011 and transferred to the Sister James Care Center in December 2015.
Irene is survived by her four nieces: Janet Sayler, Mary Jo Bruening, Helen Mueller, and Kathy Skorpik and one nephew, David Souhrada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her parents, four sisters: Sr. James, Sr. Lucille, Sr. Amelia and Ann Souhrada and three brothers: Joseph, Albert, and August.
