Jack Raymond Meyers, Sr., age 79, of Yankton, SD passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014, at his residence under hospice care surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be 7 PM, Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating. Visitations to greet the family will be from 5-7 PM, Monday prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Jack was born June 18, 1935 to Eugene Peter and Velma Elizabeth (Nelson) Meyers in Yankton, SD. On July 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ruby Faye Van Hoozen and to this union four children were born: Connie, Debbie, Dianna and Jack Jr. Carpentry was his whole life and he owned his own construction company. He worked on many buildings and housing projects in and outside of the Yankton area. Jack was a very hard worker and was dedicated to each job. He enjoyed being outside especially to fish and hunt. Later in life, he spent many hours working in his garden. During the summer, he spent many hours tending to his yard, roses and flowers of which he kept blooming. His mornings were spent visiting with special friends at McDonalds. Jack loved his family and his grandkids. The time they spent together was very precious to him. Those who will always cherish his memory forever are his wife of 61 years, Ruby Faye Meyers of Yankton, SD; his son, Jack Raymond (Diane) Meyers, Jr. of Yankton, SD; his three daughters: Dianna (Mike) Bovero of Yankton, SD; Connie (Mike) Cuka, of South Sioux City, NE and Debbie Kessler of Kellyville, OK; brother, Dean Meyers of Yankton, SD; sister, Sherlene Van Hoozen of Constance, NE; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Velma and twin siblings.
