James H. Mierau

James H. Mierau, age 60 of Yankton passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at Cedar Village in Yankton, SD. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton with Rev. Rod Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be LCBHS Staff and honorary pallbearers will be Cedar Village Staff and residence.

James was born to Hugo and Leola (Schrag) Mierau in Bloomington, Illinois on April 11, 1953. In the Spring of 1958, his family moved to Freeman, SD. He attended 1st-8th grade in a one room school house then attended 9th-12th grade at the Freeman Academy. At the age of 18, he traveled the country and returned back to South Dakota to attend USD.
