Kenneth C. Aisenbrey

Kenneth C. Aisenbrey, age 82 of Olivet, SD passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Salem Reformed Church, Menno with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152 Honor Guard, Menno and the Ellsworth AFB Honor Guard, Ellsworth, SD. Visitations will be from 5-7 PM, Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Salem Reformed Church, Menno with a 7 PM Prayer service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno is in care of the arrangements.

Kenneth Carl Aisenbrey was born on June 29, 1932, in the home of his parents in Menno, South Dakota and died on February 7, 2015.

He was the son of Bethuel John and Magdalena Carolina (nee Woehl) Aisenbrey. Kenneth was baptized on August 28, 1932, by Rev. Bodeman and confirmed on June 26, 1946, by Rev. Erich Kaempchen in the Salem Reformed Church of Menno. He was a faithful member of the Salem Reformed Church all of his life. He attended the Menno Public School and graduated from high school on May 17, 1950.

Kenneth had fond memories of his childhood growing up in small town South Dakota. He excelled in school and continued with a lifelong love for learning. He played a cornet in the school band, was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts, and enjoyed the outdoors.

On May 19, 1950, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a Communications Specialist and retired from the USAF on August 31, 1978, as a Senior Master Sergeant. In his 28 years, he served all over the United States and also in England, Turkey, Alaska and Thailand.

After his retirement, he returned to Menno, South Dakota, and was a Massey Ferguson parts man for the Menno Mercantile Farm Implement Store for 16 years (1978 to 1994).

On May 4, 2003, Kenneth married Kayleen Faye (nee Zeeb) Albrecht and they shared their life together in Olivet, South Dakota.

Kenneth acquired many interests and skills throughout his lifetime. He belonged to two Genealogy Societies and their local chapters (The Germans from Russia Heritage Society and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia). Beginning in 1954, he belonged to the Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152 until his death of which he was the Adjutant from 1993 to 2011. He supported local activities like the Menno Community Club; the Pioneer Power Show; the Lake Menno Restoration. He enjoyed photography, traveling, classical music, leather craft, target shooting, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. His main interest consisted of spending time with his 10 step grandchildren and watching them grow up. His life reflected a servant's heart.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale.

He is survived by his wife, Kayleen, three step-children: Bobbi Jo (Mike) Frazier, Roger (Gail) Albrecht and Linda (Mark) Roberts and ten step-grandchildren: Caitlin, Malik and Arianna Frazier; Brady, Amber, Payton and Spencer Albrecht; and Mackenzie, Riley and Hallie Roberts.
