Larry Dwight Osborn, 82, of Yankton passed away Monday, May 25, 2026 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital with his family by his side. Visitation will be Monday, June 1 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Wake Service at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home in Yankton. Larry’s Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with Rev. Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Online condolences may be sent at www.okfhc.com. Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Larry grew up in Yankton, South Dakota. He joined the Army at the age of 17 in 1961. He served 3 years in Germany then returned home to Yankton where he met the love of his life whom he married, Kathryn Patricia Pravecek. They spent the next 61 years together and had 3 children, Pam, Kristy, and John.
Larry enjoyed being with his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face and loved to go browse his favorite stores and run into his friends and visit. He also had his special 1948 Chevy that he restored and really enjoyed going for a drive on a nice sunny day.
Larry is survived by his wife Kathryn Osborn; daughter, Kristy (John) Justra; grandchildren, Nichole Smithers, John Osborn, Shawn Osborn, and Carissa Sayler; great-grandchildren, Chris Hopson, Brenden Smithers and Corryn Poelstra.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ella and Warren, two children Pam and John Osborn, four brothers, Warren, Art, Gene and Frank Osborn, four sisters, Anna Mae (Infant), Elsie Olson, Sharon Mann, and Deloris Lefler.
