Laura M. Goeden, age 86, of Yankton, SD passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Wakonda Heritage Manor/Avera Health, Wakonda, SD. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is assisting with service details.
Laura was born on December 15, 1927 in Yankton, SD, the fifth child of Christian and Alta (Hackett) Christensen. On October 19, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ignatius Goeden and in August 2006, Igs passed away. She was a very industrious woman; to supplement the family income, she detasseled corn and was a waitress at many local businesses in Yankton. For ten years, she owned and managed the Sunset Motel. Later, she worked at the Press & Dakotan as an inserter for twenty years. Her main goal was to be a wife to Igs and a mother to her eight children.
She is survived by her six children: Cynthia (David) Vollmer of Springfield, SD, Lee (Anne) Goeden of Utica, SD, Bernadette (David) Hacecky of Mission Hill, SD, David Goeden of Yankton, SD, Michelle (special friend, Mike) Olszewski of Wyer, IN, and Michael (Lanaya) Goeden of Plymouth, MN; 25 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ethel Goeden of Yankton, SD and Dorothy Anderson of Yankton, SD; special friends, Chris and Bonnie Hudson of Yankton, SD and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Igs, her parents, two children, Larry Goeden and Lorelei Hodges; three brothers, one sister, and two grandsons, Aaron Johnson and Bret Hacecky.
