Leon H. Goehring, age 98 of Menno passed away on July 4, 2016 at Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Goehring, Howard Goehring, Merle Goehring, George Goehring, Larry Goehring, Brian Goehring, and Terry Goehring.
Leon Henry Goehring was born November 10, 1917 to Henry and Elma (Liebl) Goehring on the farm northwest of Freeman, SD, he was the 4th of 5 children. He was baptized by Rev. Rittershaus and confirmed on June 26, 1932 by Rev. John Bodenman at the Salem Reformed Church in Menno. He attended country school through the 8th grade. Leon helped on the family farm until his father retired, then he took over the farming operations until he retired 1989. For many years, Leon wintered in McAllen, TX where he met Mildred Ruth Corbin and they married on April 26, 1986. Mildred passed away on April 19, 2003 in Texas. In March 2009, Leon moved to Majestic Bluffs in Yankton and then to the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno in August 2013 where he resided until the time of his death.
Leon was a big fan of the Freeman Amateur Baseball team and loved to play pinochle and dominoes.
He is survived by his brother, Willard (Darlene) Goehring of Menno, SD; ten nieces and nephews; three step children: Douglas and David Corbin and Susan McKinnon, all of Texas.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; his parents, Henry and Elma Goehring; two brothers: Arnold (Meta) Goehring and Harold (Elsie) Goehring; a sister, Alice Goehring and a nephew, Lloyd Goehring.
