POKORNEY LILY

Lily Pokorney, age 83 of Yankton, SD passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at her residence at Autumn Winds West under hospice care after a long illness.

Lily was born on February 8,1936 in England to William James and Francis (Kerfoot) Burgess. She married Clarence Pokorney on February 17, 1956 in Suffolk, England. They moved to the United States in 1962.  One of Lily’s proudest moments was when she was granted her US Citizenship.  She loved to travel, read, going on walks and spending time with her family, her dogs and friends. She also liked working in her yard, tending to her flowers and her lawn. Lily worked at the Human Services Center in Yankton from March 1973 until March of 1998 when she retired. After a short time, she became bored and went back to work there in May of 1998 until July 2003.

Lily is survived by her son, Stephen (Kay) Pokorney; daughter, Deb (Ken) Peterson; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and sister, Alice Boland.

Lily was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Pokorney; daughter, Susan Coke; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
