MEEDER LORRAINE

Lorraine Meeder, age 89 of Yankton, SD passed away early Monday, January 21, 2019 at Avera Heart Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Pallbearers are:  Richard Keierleber, Colin Keierleber, Curtis Keierleber, Larry Keierleber, Shane Keierleber and Todd Woods.

Lorraine was born October 28, 1929 to Frank and Ruth Harthaus on the family farm southwest of Colome, SD.  Due to her father’s health, they moved to Winner, SD in October 1944.  She married Orville W. “Bud” Meeder on March 9, 1954 in Northfield, MN.  They moved to Yankton in September 1955.  Lorraine worked at J.C. Penney for 36 years, retiring in 1992 due to Bud’s health.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #791.  After losing Bud in 1992, she did volunteer work for her church and helped to look after some elderly friends.

Lorraine is survived by her stepson, Gary (Jackie) Meeder of Brookings, SD; two grandsons, Mike and Mark; sister, Arlene of Northfield, MN and several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; parents; her sister and brother-in-law,  Phyllis and Harold Keierleber; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Lois Harthaus and brother-in-law, Lewis Worcester.
