Marlene (Beck) Myears, age 82 of Lake Andes, SD passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Lake Andes Senior Living. Her wishes were to be cremated with no formal services. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Onsite Crematory, Yankton, SD is assisting with the service details.

Marlene was born January 14, 1944 to Rosalina (Kandl) and John Beck in Geddes, SD. She attended country school thru 8th grade and high school in Ravinia & Beaumont, California. Marlene graduated from Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, SD.

She taught for 5 years in rural school in Charles Mix County, towns of Fairfax & Yankton. After teaching, she worked at M-Tron in Yankton, Community Action Program in Lake Andes, The Announcer, Wagner Post, Lake Andes Wave, and finally the Executive Director of the Lake Andes Housing Authority.

Her hobbies included reading, her flowers, traveling and being outdoors.

On August 3, 1975 she married Gordon Myears. She became a step mother to Kathy, Ernie, Mark and Duane.

Marlene is survived by her step children, Kathleen Young of Fort Pierre, SD, Ernest Myears of Lake Andes, Mark Myears of Flandreau, and Duane (Laurie) Myears of Remsen, IA. 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren, and cousin Rhonda Baxter of Washington State.
