Marlene Shelburg, age 75 of Yankton, SD passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. There will be no memorial services. Private family burial will be in the Mission Hill Cemetery, Mission Hill, SD at a later date with the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory assisting with the arrangements. Marlene was born in Des Moines, IA on October 8, 1941. She worked for the Yankton Police Department as a dispatcher and for the South Dakota Department of Corrections. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, SD.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Tiffany (Shelburg) Morris (husband Dan) of Omaha, Nebraska and Michael Shelburg (wife Deb) of Centennial, Colorado and her six grandchildren; Damien Shelburg (wife Jess), Zachary Shelburg, Jennifer (Shelburg) Wilson (husband Eric), Tristan Shelburg, Caden Morris, and Avery Morris and one great-grandchild Addison Wilson and brother James Shelburg of Houston, Texas.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lela (Daugherty) Shelburg of Yankton, SD, and her siblings: Louis Shelburg of Lesterville, SD; Charles Shelburg of Mission Hill, SD; Barbara (Barb) Merrigan of Yankton, SD; John (Jack) Shelburg of Yankton, SD; Gerald (Jerry) Shelburg of Yankton, SD; and Donald (Donnie) Shelburg of Flowermound, TX.
