Mary Ann (Peterka) Osborn passed away Wednesday May 7th 2025 at the Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton South Dakota.
Mary Ann was born November 10th 1936 to Sylvan and Ella (Bierle) Peterka at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. She graduated from Scotland High School in 1955.
On January 27th 1957 she married Frank Osborn in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple lived in Van Nuys, Boulder Creek and then Santa Cruz, California where they had three children, Ozzie, Ella (Tooker) and Frank Jr.
In 1972 they returned home to South Dakota to live in Utica. Mary Ann and Frank retired to Florida for a short time in 1994 but the desire to be close to family was strong so they returned once again to South Dakota where they remained. They found their dream in a home on the banks of the James River east of Yankton where they lived until Frank's passing in 2017. Soon after, Mary Ann moved to an apartment in Yankton. After taking a fall in 2024, she moved to The Sister James Care Center at Majestic Bluffs.
Regardless of where she was, she enjoyed spending time with family, tending to plants, bird watching, baking, canning and crocheting.
Mary Ann had various jobs over the years, working in the laundry and the dietary at the Human Services Center as well as in the school lunch program at the Yankton Middle School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, son Ozzie, daughter-in-law Donna, brothers Dale and Robert and great grandson Gerald.
She is survived by her brother Kenneth, children Ella (Randy) Tooker and Frank (Cindy) Osborn.
Grandchildren: Tina Osborn, Warren (Heidi) Osborn, Matt (Stephanie) Osborn, Michael (Anette) Osborn, Anthony Osborn, Kyle (Brittany) Diede, Katie Diede (Jergens Engelbrecht) as well as 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
