Mary Ann Wurtz was born in the early morning of July 6, 1935 on the family farm east of Tabor, South Dakota to Fred and Stella (Horacek) Wurtz.
She attended Elm View Country School through eighth grade after which she attended Tabor High School.
On July 31, 1953 Mary Ann married Richard G. Schoenberger in Yankton, SD. The couple lived in California and Washington State while Richard served in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge from the navy they returned to South Dakota where they resided for the rest of their lives.
Mary Ann worked at Gurney Seed and Nursery from 1963-1991. After retiring she did store demos and babysat many children, including her grandchildren.
Among the many things Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, reading, bingo, country western music, and traveling. Mary Ann traveled to all states in the United States except for six of them, and she traveled outside of the country to Holland, England, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, the Virgin Islands, and Mexico.
Mary Ann is survived by sons Rick Schoenberger of Rapid City, Richard Lee (Liane) Schoenberger of Yankton, Daughter Karen (Jim) Bulian of Yankton, Daughter in law Jeannie White of Volin, Seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Sisters Barb Steffen of Tyndall, Dorothy Perk of Yankton, and Sue (Joe) Pechous, of Tabor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard in 2002, son Randy in 2008, daughter in-law Gloria in 2013, and Brother Larry.
