Myrna was born near Olivet, SD, on December 3, 1930. She was the middle of three children born to William Jr and Velma (Boegler) Steffen.
Myrna attended elementary school at Rames School District 15 and graduated from Menno High School in 1948. After graduation, she was employed by the Hutchinson County Welfare Office for several years.
She was united in marriage to Alton Herrboldt, her high school sweetheart, on November 22,1951, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Olivet, SD. They farmed southwest of Menno until 1972 when they purchased their farm north of Olivet, which was in the Steffen family for over 130 years. Myrna and Alton farmed together, raising four children. They moved to Menno in 1990.
Myrna had a generous heart and enjoyed serving others in numerous ways. She was always cooking, canning, or sewing for her family. She attended numerous sporting events and fairs in support of her children and grandchildren. Myrna loved playing cards and games for hours and was still winning Scrabble at 94 years old. During recent years, she greatly enjoyed putting together jig saw puzzles and playing games on her iPad.
Myrna was a faithful member of the Salem Reformed Church, holding numerous positions. It did not seem like Sunday unless she attended church.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband, Alton, of 74 years; her children: Karla (James) Hora, Parkston, SD; Gaye (Dave) Nusz, Omaha, NE; and twins Jan (Rick) Stoldorf, Grafton, NE; and Jay (Sharyl) Herrboldt, Olivet, SD; her eight grandchildren: Justin (Amanda) Hora, Megan Hora (Eric), Sheridan (Megan) Nusz, Brooks (Cheyenne Nguyen) Nusz, Lindsey (Bronc) McKay, Tori (Brandon Zeller) Stoldorf, Kate (Justin) Durston, Paige Herrboldt; and eight great grandchildren: Robert, Riley, and Bethany Hora; Noah, Kate, and Annie Bannwarth; Dayne Nusz; and Miller McKay.
