Patricia Ann (Conrad) Mettler, age 90, passed away on June 29, 2026 in Arvada, Colorado with family by her side. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel in Menno. Online condolences may be sent at www.okfhc.com.
Her journey began on May 18, 1936, in Scotland, SD, where she was welcomed into the world by Arnold John and Blanche Adaline (nee Sproul) Conrad. Her roots were firmly planted in the community, marked by her baptism at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Menno.
Her vibrant life took her on a path that spanned from South Dakota to California, back to South Dakota then to Colorado. She forged cherished friendships and despite the miles, those friendships remained steadfast and dear to her heart.
Patricia's education led her through elementary school in Scotland, SD, before a move to California with her mother during her 5th grade year. Returning to Menno for her high school years, she graduated from Menno High School in 1954, carrying with her the values of community and dedication.
It was at Vern’s beer garden that she met a good-looking man, Gordon A. Mettler, whose persistent winking from across the room led to a destined conversation and a promise of forever as he told his friend that night “I’m going to marry her.” Their union on August 25, 1956, in a chapel ceremony officiated by Rev. Bratt in California, became the foundation for a beautiful family as they had four children; Rhonda, Renee, David, and Tricia.
Pat and Gordon's life on the farm north of Menno was a testament to resilience and commitment amplified even further after an unfortunate farming accident which changed their paths. In the face of adversity, Pat exemplified unwavering strength, supporting her family while working as a cook at Menno High School for 21 years until her retirement in 1996.
Beyond her professional life, Pat found joy in the simple pleasures—daily walks around town, treasured moments with her children and grandchildren, and most of all, spending time with her dog, Gordy. Known for her quick wit, contagious humor, and undeniable inner and outer beauty, Pat left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her four devoted children: Rhonda (Danny) Poole of Chester, VA; Renee Mettler of Colorado Springs, CO, along with her daughters Taryn (Jarrett; great granddaughters Lilli and Layla) and Hanna; David (Patty) Mettler of Palmer Lake, CO, and son Lucas; Tricia Mettler (Kevin Gray) of Arvada, CO, accompanied by her daughters Mallory and Kai. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Carol Mettler of Sioux Falls, SD.
While she has departed this world, she is reunited with her beloved parents, brother, and husband, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and laughter that will echo through the lives she touched.
