HAAR RAYMOND
Raymond F. Haar, age 95 of Yankton, SD passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD.
Ray was born February 3, 1923, in Menno, SD, the son of Fred and Emma (Heckenlaible) Haar. Ray grew up in and graduated from Menno, SD. He enlisted in the Armed Forces, served as a clerk in the Army, and received honors as a WWII veteran. After the service, he joined members of his family living in Cedar Rapids, IA, where he worked for the Cryovac Company. Staying with the company for his career, Ray advanced to plants in South Carolina, California, and finished in public relations as a quality controller for the products distributed in the Omaha area. Ray retired to Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, and volunteering through church activities. Later he returned to Sioux Falls and then Yankton, where he resided with his brother, Art for 15 years and was an active member of his church community. Ray requested to go "home" to Menno for his final days.
Ray is survived by his brother, Arthur Haar of Yankton, SD; his nephew and nieces, Steve Haar of Atkins, IA, Janet Haar of Cedar Rapids, IA and Kay (Barry) Jennings of Solon, IA and other relatives in the Yankton and Menno area.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Henry (Gladys) Haar, Herb (Jean) Haar, Arnold (Donna) Haar and three sisters: Annette Haar, Anne (Wallace) Lee and Linda (Don) Merrigan.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 1009 Jackson, Yankton, SD 57078. The family would like to show their gratitude to the Menno-Olivet Care Center for their compassion and care.
