Richard F. Brech, age 75 of Yankton, SD passed away early Saturday, January 20, 2024 at his residence.  Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Yankton City Cemetery, Yankton, SD.  Online condolences may be sent at: www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com .

Richard was born August 10, 1948 at Yankton, SD to Fredrick W. and Emma L. (Metcalf) Brech.  He grew up in Yankton and at the age of 16 moved to White Swan, WA where he worked the Job Corp with the Forest Service in Washington splitting wood, fighting fires, and cleaning barracks.  He moved back to Yankton, SD and worked for Yankton College doing janitorial duties until the school closed in December of 1984.  He then began working full time with Mr. Clean in 1986 doing janitorial work at the Moose Lodge, Walnut Tavern, amongst other places of work until 1997 when he entered into Vocational Reb before beginning work at Hardee’s.  He worked at Hardee’s until it closed in 2001.  Due to health concerns, Richard retired in 2001.

He is survived by two sisters and five nephews.
