Robert Jensen was born March 20, 1931 in Yankton, SD to Chris and Annie (Schmidt) Jensen. Robert went to school in Ogden, UT and Yankton, SD. He went into the Army in 1947 to 1950. He served in the elite group of paratroopers and took green beret and special forces training. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge and Rifle Bar Glider Badge and Parachute Badge.
Robert married Betty Roach on August 11, 1951 in Malid, ID and to this union 4 children were born: Steve, Jean, Randy and Karen. They returned to Yankton, SD in 1961 to buy his father’s business, Jensen’s Scrap Metal and ran this business for 50 years before retiring. Robert was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Robert is survived by his children: Steve (Sheilia) Jensen, Jeanne (Ron) Gednalske, Randy (Bonnie) Jensen, Karen (Tom) Thorson; grandchildren: Zack, Kerie, Steve, Chris, Joe, Sarah, Matt, Erica, Jon and his 9 great-grandchildren
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty; and his siblings: Evelyn Jensen, Marion Simonsen, Dorothy Keirns, Betty Knutson, Walter Jensen, Donna Bovero, Barbara Wuestawald and Larry Jensen.
