Snoozy Roxanne
Roxanne Marie Snoozy , age 66, of Yankton, SD, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at Sister James Care Center in Yankton, surrounded by her son Nathan Snoozy and daughter Genevieve Clark. As they gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead, they watched her take her first breath in Heaven, free from the pain she had long endured. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, August 11 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home in Yankton with Rev. Nate Moore officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Gayville Community Cemetery after the service. In honor of Roxanne’s vibrant spirit and sense of humor, we kindly ask that you do not wear black to her service. She would want this to be a celebration of her life, not a time of mourning; a day filled with laughter, stories, and color, just as she lived. Online condolences may be sent at www.okfhc.com . Roxanne was born on May 11, 1959, in Yankton, SD. In her youth, she cherished time with family and friends and was known for her quick wit and love of laughter. She especially enjoyed playing cards, particularly pinochle, during her childhood. Over the years, Roxanne worked a variety of jobs, a true “jack of all trades,” as her children would say. Her final job before retirement was as a dietary aide at the Monastery in Yankton, where she found joy in the company of the sisters.
Her greatest pride in life was her children and her beloved dog, Chi-Chi. Although life circumstances sometimes kept her from being present for earlier milestones, Roxanne did her best to show up in her children's later years. She proudly watched her daughters, Genevieve and Elianna, graduate from college with nursing degrees and cheered them on through years of athletic competition. She was their biggest fan and never hesitated to brag about them. Roxanne also constantly bragged about her son Nathan’s ability to fix anything she broke or messed up. She called him for every small inconvenience, and trusted that he’d always have a solution. Despite a turbulent relationship with her daughter Christine, Roxanne was proud of her accomplishments and would be happy to know that she is continuing to work on bettering herself and her life. That pride was always there, even if words sometimes failed to show it.
As health challenges mounted, Roxanne leaned on her two nurse daughters, who helped guide her through her nearly two-year battle with cancer. Together, they chose a conservative treatment path, allowing Roxanne to live life to the fullest until she was called home. Those who knew her will remember she liked things done a certain way and never wanted to burden her children even though she wasn’t shy about reaching out when she needed help.
Roxanne is survived by her children: Nathan Snoozy (Concee) of Gayville, SD; Genevieve Clark of Yankton, SD; Elianna Clark (Jaren Mortenson) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Christine Iiams of Yankton, SD. Siblings: John (Karla) Snoozy of Lincoln, NE; Cheryl and David Snoozy of Yankton, SD. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alyssa Schmidt (Kyle) of Brandon, SD; Samantha Iiams, Dylan Iiams, Jazzlyn Snoozy of Yankton, SD; and Sophia Snoozy of Gayville, SD; along with six great-grandchildren, three nephews, and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Alice(Pokorney) Snoozy; her daughter, Gabrielle Clark; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
