Shawn A. Poore

Shawn A. Poore, age 42 of Alexandria, SD and formerly of Crofton, NE passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014. Graveside services will be 5:00 PM, Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Crofton City Cemetery, Crofton, NE with Chaplain Tweeter Henseler officiating. Visitations will be 5:00 to 7:30 PM, Thursday evening, September, 4, 2014 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD.

Shawn was born to Merle Poore and Rita Peterson in Spearfish, SD on January 10, 1972. He spent most of his childhood in California foster care. He came to South Dakota in 1993 in search of his mother at age 21. Soon after finding his mother, he met his wife, Aliscia Anderson and they were married on August 27, 1994. To this union, they had two children: Sabrina Poore of Yankton, SD and Sawyer Poore of Norfolk, NE. He was employed by Alumax/Sapa from June 1993 until May 2013 as a Die Repairman. He was also a self taught mechanic, carpenter and plumber. He had a love for animals as much as his family. He wasn't afraid to try new things and was always willing to help someone out that needed help no matter what the situation was.

Those that will cherish memories of him are Aliscia, his children, Sabrina and Sawyer, his mother, Rita Peterson of Yankton, SD; his sister, Carmen Poore of Harlem, MT, his maternal grandfather, Marvin Peterson of Belcourt, ND; his inlaws, Leray Anderson of Alexandria, SD, LaDonna Anderson of Crofton, NE; brothers-in-law, Leray (Katrina) Anderson, II of Crofton, NE, Jeff (Laura) Anderson of Lincoln, NE and Dustin Anderson of Crofton, NE; a niece, three nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merle Poore, his brothers, Shane Poore and Travis Poore, his paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother.
