Sheila A. Zimmerman, age 52 of Yankton passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Father Craig Loecker as celebrant and Father Ken Lulf and Msgr. Carlton Hermann as co-celebrants. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will be from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2014 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton, with a Wake service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is assisting with service details.
Sheila was born January 22, 1962 in Yankton, SD to Bernard and Shirley (Schrempp) Kaiser. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Helena, NE. She graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington, NE. Sheila married Steve Zimmerman on September 25, 1993 in St. Helena, NE. They adopted Courtney on August 23, 1998 as a newborn through Catholic Family Services in Sioux Falls, SD. She was employed at Vishay Dale Electronics, First Dakota National Bank and was currently employed at Cor-Trust Bank until her death. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for the youth group at the church. She walked for many health organizations and volunteered for fundraisers at Sacred Heart School.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Steve of Yankton, SD; daughter, Courtney of Yankton, SD; parents, Bernard and Shirley Kaiser of St. Helena, NE; brothers: Kelly (Kayleen) Kaiser of Fordyce, NE, Dean (Tammy) Kaiser of Yankton, SD, Dale Kaiser of Yankton, SD and Chad Kaiser of Yankton, SD and sisters: Brenda (Frank) Stefani of Yankton, SD, Judy (Russ) Gade of West Point, NE and Beth (Chris) Vos of Omaha, NE.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Korry Kaiser, grandparents, Hubert and Mary Schrempp, and Jacob and Theresa Kaiser.
